HTML5 Video
New to HTML5?
Great intro to HTML5 that will orient you to what the standards community is doing:
HTML5 Video
The newly defined <video> element in HTML5 makes it possible for browsers to render video natively without a plugin (e.g., Flash). It also means that common web tools can be used to create a video player and controls (i.e., CSS, JavaScript).
HTML5 Browsers
Browsers are now in control of video playback, resizing, positioning, over-lapping, and a host of other functions with the <video> element. The following list shows the 3 most common video formats and browser support, with WebM (VP8 from Google) the most recent entrant open sourced in May 2010.
Firefox 3.5+ :: OGG
Chrome 3+ :: OGG, H.264, WebM
Safari 3.1+ :: H.264
Opera 10.50+ :: OGG, H.264
